Abstract
How to hide user Interface Elements in TCR Report Using Group Access

This is a way to hide or removing certain Report Element from view for some users. An example is to remove
"Save as Report View" or "Add this report" icons.
Using the TCR security setting for Access and Permissions certain elements of the report can be hiding from View.
Use the steps below to remove the elements from view.
- Creating a group and restrict the group access via the Reports or Report Studio
- Add users to the group.
To control access to Report Studio and other Tivoli Common Reporting functions, use the predefined security roles with the groups of user IDs that you create.
For example, to control who can use Report Studio, you take the following general steps:
Remove all other user IDs from the Authors and Express Authors roles. That is, remove the Everyone group from the roles.
Grant permissions to the HTML Items in Report capability to the Everyone group.
The procedure below describes the general steps in more detail.
- Open Tivoli Common Reporting.
- Log on to Tivoli Common Reporting with administrator privileges.
- From the Launch menu, click Administration.
- Click the Security tab.
- To assign a group of users to the Authors role and remove the Everyone group from the role, complete the following steps:
- Click the Cognos directory, and then click the Properties icon for the Authors role.
- Click the Members tab, and then click Add.
- Click the Cognos directory.
- Select the check box for the group, and then add it to the Selected entries list.
- Click OK.
- Select the check box for the Everyone user.
- Click Remove, and then click OK.
- Repeat this step for the Express Authors role.
- To grant permissions to the HTML Items in Report function, complete the following steps:
- On the Security tab, click Capabilities.
- Click Report Studio in the Capability list.
- Click the Actions icon beside the HTML Items in Report list, and then select Set properties.
- Click the Permissions tab.
- Select the Override the access permissions acquired from the parent entry check box.
- Click Add.
- Click the Cognos directory.
- Select the check box for the Everyone group, and then add it to the Selected entries list.
- Click OK.
- Select the check box for the Everyone group, and then elect the Grant check box for the Execute and Traverse permissions.
- Click OK
