Reset passcode changes for Samsung Knox 3.2.1+ devices enrolled in Device admin mode

Abstract

With MaaS360 for Android 6.80+ MaaS360 uses new API provided by Samsung to reset passcode on Samsung Knox 3.2.1+ devices that are enrolled in Device Admin mode.

Content

The reset passcode action requires reset tokens to be generated and activated on the device, but the action is not issued to the devices in the following cases:
  • Escrow data required for generating reset token is unavailable (devices may not be patched up-to-date) or lost (firmware issues).
  • The reset token is not activated as the user did not unlock the device at least once.
In both the cases, if the reset passcode action is failed, users need to perform device factory reset to generate tokens.
Administrators can track the status of reset password action in the device history.
