This document describes how to download installation images for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Version 10.1.5.x

Images on Fix Central online

To get the latest features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect™ Plus from a previous version or release. Software patches and updates are delivered on Fix Central and installed by using the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus administrative console.

The Fix Central online website contains update files for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. You must install a base level package to use these images.

The Passport Advantage online website has complete images of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.5 for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Passport Advantage online website.
The images available through Passport Advantage are the base level packages. For any software patches, check Fix Central.

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus virtual appliance

    This image contains all of the components required to host an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus data protection environment.

    You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus virtual appliance is installed and deployed.
     

  • vSnap Server and VADP proxy

    In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
    You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

  • Kubernetes backup support

    Kubernetes backup support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes clusters. Before you can back up and restore persistent volumes that are attached to your containers, you must install and deploy Kubernetes backup support images.

  • Update files

    Warning: To upgrade to IBM Spectrum Protect Plus version 10.1.5 from version 10.1.4, you must apply the necessary ISO update files for the virtual appliance as described in the user documentation. See Updating the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus virtual appliance  
    After the update is completed, you must manually restart the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus appliance. If the virtual appliance is not restarted, the upgrade fails.
     

  • License

    A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

Important:

  • You can update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus directly from two previous versions (n-2) to the current version (n). If you are using an older version, you must update at least to (n-2) version and then update to the current version.
  • Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.



 

Download Package

The HTTP link in the Download Options column directs you to the following sites:

  • Passport Advantage online website. Passport Advantage is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the images associated with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.5 available for download.

    You can locate images on the Passport Advantage online website by using the part number as the search query. For example, to locate the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for VMware virtual appliance, use the search query CC3K2ML, and for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for Hyper-V virtual appliance, use CC3K3ML.

  • Fix Central online website. Fix Central is a secure website that requires you to log in using your IBM ID. Fix Central allows you to search, select, order, and download fixes to your system with a choice of delivery options. You can acquire an IBM ID for free at  Sign up to IBMid 

    You can locate images on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Spectrum Protect Plus".


Reminder: The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. Install previous a base level package before use these packages.
