Question & Answer
Question
Is there a way to define condition codes?
Answer
Condition codes are used in Maximo to define various physical states of a particular item. This ability is useful to differentiate physical conditions of an item as separate items. A good example of this would be an item such as a tire. Your company may use the tire with various tread depths on your vehicles and needs a way to differentiate between these various conditions to decide how they should be used. In this example you could set a new tire at a condition rate of 100% (100% of it's thread is available), a used tire at 75%, and an unusable/unsafe tire at 50%. You can then track inventory levels by the tire's condition.
Condition codes are created in the Condition Codes application in the Inventory module. When creating the codes you can set default cost percentages for items or simply create flat rates. After creating your condition codes you can apply them to items by checking the "Condition Enabled?" check box on the Item tab in the Item Master Application for a given item.
