Symptom |
---|
After redirecting the console of a Linux server, using the Remote Supervisor Adapter's (RSA) Remote Console Redirect function, keyboard access works in BIOS but will not work after Linux boots to its login console.
Affected configuration |
---|
The system may be any of the following IBM eServer xSeries servers:
- xSeries 342, type 8669, any model
- xSeries 232, type 8668, any model
- xSeries 220, type 8646, any model
- xSeries 220, type 8645, any model
The system is configured with the following option(s):
- IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter, option part number 09N7585, replacement part number (FRU) 36L9912
The following NOS(es) are affected:
- Caldera
- Red Hat Linux
- SUSE LINUX
- TurboLinux
Solution |
---|
This behavior has been corrected in the latest release of the RSA firmware and device driver.
Workaround |
---|
Edit /etc/modules.conf and comment out all lines which make reference to "usb".
Additional information |
---|
On Linux servers, the RSA uses the resources of the USB legacy devices to channel the video output. When the Linux USB device driver loads it locks that resource, making it unavailable for the RSA to use.
