Abstract
When you delete metadata from within InfoSphere Information Analyzer, this removes metadata about the assets from the metadata repository. Deleting does not remove the actual assets from the data source.
Content
You can delete metadata from the metadata repository from the InfoSphere Information Analyzer Import Metadata workspace. You must have Information Analyzer Data Administrator authority. For detailed instructions, see Deleting metadata.
The data source is never affected by import or deletion of metadata. Therefore, even if you delete metadata, you can reimport the same metadata at a later time.
Information Analyzer performs a check against analysis results to determine if there are any references to metadata that is being deleted.
If references are found to the metadata being deleted, Information Analyzer displays an advisory message with details about the references. You can export the details for reference, and you have the option to cancel deletion.
Note: Some references might not be reported in the dialog that is displayed when you choose to delete. This occurs if the project references the metadata, but no analysis has yet occurred.
If analysis has occurred, after you delete referenced metatadata, you can keep the existing analysis results, but you cannot run any subsequent analysis on the same source because the original metadata no longer exists. If you reimport the metadata, then the reimported data is considered new data, and you must run the analysis again to obtain current results.
