Abstract
On Android 12 or higher, users can specify the accuracy of the locations they share by choosing between Precise (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) or Approximate (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) location accuracy.
Content
When the MaaS360 app targets Android 12, the new system permissions dialog includes the following options for the user:
- Precise: Allows the MaaS360 app to get precise location information.
- Approximate: Allows the MaaS360 app to get only approximate location information.
Precise Location permission
The Precise location pinpoints the device’s location down to a few meters. This permission is critical to the MaaS360 app’s core functionality. MaaS360 uses this level of location accuracy to perform some of the crucial functions such as enabling geo-fencing, detecting insecure Wi-Fi connections, and recognizing the device's entry into preconfigured locations. MaaS360 Kiosk app requires this permission to display configured Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices in close range.
Note: Supported on devices enrolled with MaaS360 for Android app version 7.80+.
Granting the Location permission
The following system permissions dialog is displayed when the MaaS360 app requests the Location permission:
Upgrading to Precise location
If the user downgrades the location access from Precise to Approximate, the following system permissions dialog is displayed:
