Troubleshooting

Problem

Use the steps below to collect the traces necessary to troubleshoot the On-Demand Configuration (ODC) in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) version 8.x

Resolving The Problem

1) Configure the log file size and number of historical files per the instructions here:
Setting up a trace in WebSphere Application Server
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg21254706

2) Enable the following trace string on the Configuration tab for the Deployment Manager:

com.ibm.ws.odc.*=all:com.ibm.ws.wsgroup.*=all

3) Stop the Deployment Manager.

4) Delete or rename the old log files for the Deployment Manager.

5) Start the Deployment Manager with the trace enabled.

6) Recreate the ODC problem as soon as possible.

7) When the problem happens, locate this file and make a copy of it:
.../WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/Dmgr01/installedFilters/wlm/dmgr/target.xml

8) Locate the dmgr logs and trace files, and zip them up. Please include the target.xml file too.

9) Upload the files to your PMR per the instructions here:
Exchanging information with IBM Technical Support for problem determination
