MustGather: DataPower appliance management problems in the WebSphere Application Server administrative console

Troubleshooting


Problem

Collecting data for problems managing DataPower appliances in the administrative console on IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0, V8.0, 8.5 and 8.5.5. Gathering this information before calling IBM support will help you understand the problem and save time analyzing the data.

Resolving The Problem

If you have already contacted support, continue on to begin collecting the MustGather data.

Collecting DataPower appliance management specific information
Follow the steps below to enable the trace through the WebSphere Application Server administrative console:

  1. In the administrative console, expand the Troubleshooting section and click on Logs and Trace.

  2. Click on the link for your server or the deployment manager where administrative console is running.

  3. Select Diagnostic Trace. Increase the Maximum Number of Historical Files from 1 to 10 and click OK.

  4. Click on Change Log Detail Levels. Click on the Runtime tab.

    Change the following trace string:
    • From:

      *=info

    • To:

      *=info:com.ibm.datapower.*=all

      Make sure the trace output Maximum File Size limit is large (20 MB recommended) and the Maximum Number of Historical Files is greater than 5.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Repeat the administrative console steps to reproduce the problem. If possible, provide screen shots of the console panels involved.

  7. Collect the following:
    • Run the Collector Tool. See the appropriate Information Center for additional information on running the Collector Tool.
    • The DPManager.xml file
    • Steps taken to recreate the problem
    • Screen shots of the console panels involved

  8. Follow directions in MustGather: Read First to open a PMR and send data to IBM® Support.


What to do next
Once you have collected the preceding information, you can simply submit the diagnostic information to IBM support.
