Problem
This document covers starting, configuring, and sending Collection Services performance data to the IBM i Global Support Center for general system performance issues with the IBM i. These steps are for sending in data for the current days collection.
Resolving The Problem
System Performance Issues: Gathering Collection Services performance data.
Step 1: Checking, Configuring, and Starting Collection Services
1. |
Issue command CHKPFRCOL to obtain the status of Collection Services. One of the following two messages will be posted when this command is run: |
2. |
If Collection Services is active, skip to Step 2: Saving Collection Services Data to a Save File. |
3. |
Issue command STRPFRCOL CYCCOL(*YES). This will start the QYPSPFRCOL collector job in QSYSWRK and will use the configuration from the CFGPFRCOL command. |
Step 2: Saving Collection Services Data to a Save File
Follow these steps to save the performance data:
1.
Issue command CRTLIB LIB(TSXXXXXXX)
where TSXXXXXXX = Last 6 digits of Case number.2.
Issue command CRTSAVF FILE(TSXXXXXXX/TSXXXXXXX)
3.
Issue command CHKPFRCOL again and document the collection object and library in the message CPI0A16. When the message Collection Services active is at the bottom of the screen, you should place the cursor on the message text and press F1. Note the library and collection object in the Cause description.
Issue command CHKPFRCOL and press Enter.
Message . . . . : Collection Services active.
Cause . . . . . : The current collection object is QPFRDATA/Q167003003. The current collection profile is *STANDARDP.4.
Use the CRTPFRDTA command to create data in the newly created library.
Issue command CRTPFRDTA and press F4. Replace the 'From collection', 'Library', and 'To library' fields.
