Problem

The operating system will freeze up on the client side immediately after the USB CDROM drive is mounted using the remote disk function.

Symptom

The operating system will freeze up on the client side immediately after the USB device is mounted using the remote disk function.

Affected configuration

The system may be any of the following IBM BladeCenter:

  • IBM BladeCenter, type 8677, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter HS40, type 8839, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter HS20, type 8678, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter HS20, type 8832, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter HS20, type 8843, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter JS20, type 8842, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter T, type 8730, any model
  • IBM BladeCenter T, type 8720, any model

The system is configured with the following options:

  • for IBM BladeCenter 8677 (any model), a Management Module, option part number 48P7055, replacement part number (CRU) 73P9326
  • for IBM BladeCenter T 8720, 8730 (any model), a Management module, option part number 90P4741, replacement part number (CRU) 90P3793

The system's diagnostics Pass.

Solution

None. The mounting of a USB drive on the client side is currently not supported through the remote disk function.

Workaround

None.

Additional information

These operating systems do not correctly support the driver level commands used by the remote disk function to communicate with the USB connected devices.
