Question

Where are the Javascript Mashup samples located for IBM Cognos Analytics ?

Cause

For the Mashup CMS product which is part of the SDK , due to Technical compatibility the Mashup CMS Samples including the Javascript files located in ..webcontent/samples/sdk/cms folder in Cognos 10..2.2 were removed from the SDK for Cognos Analytics C11.x.x.x.

Answer

As Developer we can use the IBM Cognos Mashup Service (CMS) to create applications , that use a structured view of IBM Cognos outputs as input.

CMS allows you to develop applications that expose IBM Cognos outputs, such as reports and analyses, as Web services (both SOAP and REST).

This Technote describes the option of installing the CMS Javascript samples only in the Analytics Server , to have them available again in C11 releases

Find attached below the CMS Javascript samples in a cms.zip file , and the document highlighting on how to install the files.

Installation :

1. Begin with installing the standard Cognos Analytic Samples in a ../samples folder.

2. Copy the deployment file IBM_Cognos_Samples_CQ_legacy.zip from the Samples install location ../samples/webcontent/samples/content/IBMCognos10 to ../analytics/deployment

3. Import on the Analytic Server in Content the samples legacy deployment IBM_Cognos_Samples_CQ_lagacy.zip

4. Change the folder name in Team Content from "Samples_LG" to "Samples" Note that this conflicts with the Samples delivered for Cognos 11.

5. You need to enable Classic Query Mode, and create the two Great Outdoors data source connections : great_outdoors_sales and great_outdoors_warehouse

6. Extract from the cms.zip file below the "cms" folder and copy folder and content into ../analytics/webcontent/bi/samples/ path on the Cognos Analytics Server installation.

7. Update the IBM Cognos Service URL in the Javascript sample GenericAuthentication.html :

http://Server.Domain/9300/bi/v1/disp

8. Run the JavaScript Samples using the URI :

http://Server.Domain:9300/bi/samples/cms/JavaScriptSamples.html

Notes :

1. Samples attached are from Cognos 10.2.2 FixPack 7 , and if higher FixPacks become available , customers are advised to update the installed samples of that higher version in C11.
