Question
What do log4j messages mean? for example... log4j:WARN No appends could be found for logger. log4j:WARN please initialize the log4j system properly.
Cause
Log4j is an Apache debugging tool which can be useful for developers. It has no impact on the performance of Cognos
Log4j warnings may only appear because of internal warnings.
Sometimes, Cognos will log an event as an error or warning before it has finished the internal process that it has been working through.
Answer
Cognos is simply going to try something new after the warning is generated, which leads to success without any failures or error.
Cognos will start successfully start despite these messages and there is no effect on performance.
