Problem

During boot from the ServeRAID 4.7 Support CD, the Linux penguin logo inserted in a black screen is visible for a period of time that varies depending on the complexity of the system.

Symptom

During boot from the ServeRAID 4.7 Support CD, the Linux penguin logo inserted in a black screen is visible for a period of time that varies depending on the complexity of the system. (Typical times range from 35 - 45 seconds.)
 
Note: If the Linux penguin logo does not go away and the system is not booting within the expected time, then make sure that there are no devices connected to the COM1 or COM2 serial port. (As directed in the flyer that comes with the 4.7 support CD.)

Affected configurations

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

ServeRAID 4.70 Support CD (part number 21P9066) is a Red Hat Linux v6.2 based bootable CD and will therefore have a different look and feel from previous ServeRAID Support CDs which were based on Windows 95. The Linux CD has fewer screen changes than the Windows 95 CD. During most of the boot time you will see the Linux Penguin screen. The amount of time will depend on the complexity of your configuration, on average about 22 to 25 percent of total boot time.
