Problem
The Linux command "ethtool" does not properly support new advertised link modes, Kx4 and KX PHY, used by the affected Ethernet Adapters. When the ethtool ethX command is executed, supported ports, supported link modes, advertised link mode, speed, and port are not reported. This does not effect the functionality of the Adapter.

Symptom
The Linux command "ethtool" does not properly support new advertised link modes, Kx4 and KX PHY, used by the affected Ethernet adapters.
When the ethtool ethX command is executed, supported ports, supported link modes, advertised link mode, speed, and port are not reported.
This does not effect the functionality of the adapter.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- BladeCenter HS23, type 7875, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Option part numbers:
- Emulex 10 GbE Virtual Fabric Adapter Advanced II for IBM BladeCenter, Option part number part number 90Y3566, any replacement part number
- Emulex 10 GbE Virtual Fabric Adapter Advanced II for IBM BladeCenter, Option part number 90Y9332, any replacement part number
- Emulex 10 GbE Virtual Fabric Adapter Advanced for IBM BladeCenter, Option part number 49Y4275, any replacement part number
- Emulex 10 GbE Virtual Fabric Adapter II for IBM BladeCenter, Option part number 90Y3550, any replacement part number
- Emulex Virtual Fabric Adapter (CFFh) for IBM BladeCenter, Option part number 49Y4235, any replacement part number
This tip is not software specific.
The system has the symptom described above.
Additional information
A new version of the 'ethtool' command will be included in future Linux distributions to address this issue.
