Knox E-FOTA on MDM to be deprecated 31 July 2022

Knox E-FOTA One offers advanced OS management capabilities and provides remote management of firmware updates through a unified console that is developed by Samsung. See Samsung's Knox E-FOTA on MDM end of service announcement here.

Impact

MaaS360 removes the Knox E-FOTA on MDM integration from MaaS360 portal in July 2022. Managing Knox E-FOTA firmware updates in the MaaS360 portal is no longer possible after 31 July 2022. However, customers can continue to deactivate licenses through the MaaS360 portal after 31 July 2022.

To deactivate licenses,

1. Navigate to Devices > E-FOTA Licenses and then click Deactivate under the license name.

Samsung E-FOTA on MDM end of service impacts the following workflows in the MaaS360 portal:

• MaaS360 displays the Knox E-FOTA on MDM end of service notification in all the E-FOTA workflows.
• MaaS360 removes the Add Licenses button (Devices > E-FOTA Licenses > Add Licenses) to prevent administrators from adding new licenses.
• MaaS360 removes the Add Group button and the Manage Firmware option (Devices > E-FOTA Licenses > Manage Groups) to prevent administrators from adding new groups and deploying firmware updates to the existing groups.

Resolution

Samsung already released Knox E-FOTA One as a replacement to Knox E-FOTA on MDM. Customers that use Knox E-FOTA on MDM must plan to migrate to Knox E-FOTA One before 31 July to avoid service interruptions.
