The IBM i platform supports multiple Java Development Kits (JDKs) versions.
Java SE 21 64 bit (IBM I 7.6,7.5) and Java SE 17 64 bit (IBM i 7.6, 7.5, and 7.4) are latest available versions.

Supported IBM JDK versions on IBM i as of 9/9/2025:

IBM i 7.6 - Java SE versions 21, 17, 8

IBM i 7.5 - Java SE versions 21,17, 11, 8

IBM i 7.4 - Java SE versions 17, 11, 8

IBM i 7.3 - Java SE versions 11, 8 (Requires Service Extension)

IBM i 7.2 - Java SE version 8 (Requires Service Extension)

Java support on IBM i
Java on IBM i is provided by IBM.  Support for Java on IBM i is delivered through PTFs for the 5770JV1 licensed program product and is covered as part of an IBM i software maintenance support contract.
