Integrating Weighing Device with IBM Sterling Web Store

Troubleshooting

Problem

How can a weighing scale (like OHAUS ) be integrated to IBM Sterling Web Store?

Resolving The Problem

If the business is going to use OHAUS, as per Scout website, that weighing scale supports the following communication types:

Communication RS232, USB Host, USB Device, Ethernet or Bluetooth®
(all available as an accessory)

For the desktop, a USB cable should be used to connect the scale. Using this type of connection, there should be no need to write any interface code. When the weight field in the IBM Store application has focus, the user can simply hit a button on the weighing scale to send that weight to the input field.

For wireless devices such as iPad Air-2, a Bluetooth connection can be used to connect the scale. If this type of connection is used, it should also not require any interface code to be written.
As with the USB connection, the user needs to ensure focus is on the weight input field in the UI.
The device to which the weighing scale is connected should have the
necessary drivers so that the data sent over USB is interpreted on the
connected device. Use the weighing scale manual to configure for the values to be written on the UI.Before trying to record the weight on the Store application UI make sure that the
weight values can be written onto any generic text field (notepad) . If the weight values can be written on the generic text field then the Store UI will also capture them no other configurations are required.
