Installation Manager 1.9.0 on Mac install wizard fails to launch Rational Application Developer and Rational Software Architect Designer version 9.7.x

Problem

Installation Manager version 1.9.0 on Mac OS fails to launch, prohibiting you from installing Rational Application Developer 9.7.0.2. No action is performed when you attempt to launch Rational Application Developer by using the executable file RAD.app.
This issue also exists when trying to install Rational Software Architect Designer 9.7.0.2 using Installation Manager version 1.9.0 on Mac OS.

Resolving The Problem

To workaround the problem, enable Installation Manager to upgrade to version 1.9.1 or later and then reinstall Rational Application Developer version 9.7.0.2.
This workaround also applies for Rational Software Architect Designer 9.7.0.2.
To enable updates to Installation Manager:
  1. In Installation Manager, select File > Preferences > Updates and select Search for Installation Manager Updates.
  2. Click Apply and select OK to close the Preferences pane.
To Install Rational Application Developer 9.7.0.2
  1. When selecting the Install option, the following message appears: "A new version of IBM Installation Manager is available. If you do not update the Installation Manager, you will not be allowed to install some packages that require the new version of Installation Manager. Do you want to update the Installation Manager?" Click Yes.
  2. Once Installation Manager has been updated, the following message appears: "Installation Manager has been updated." Click OK to close the message and restart Installation Manager.
  3. Install the Rational Application Developer version 9.7.0.2 package.
  4. Once the installation is complete, close the installation wizard.
  5. Launch the Rational Application Developer version 9.7.0.2 package by clicking on the executable Rad.app file.
  6. Rational Application Developer will prompt for a workspace location. Enter the workspace location to launch the Rational Application Developer workspace.
