Troubleshooting
Problem
Installing IBM HTTP Server 9.0.5.11 on top of 9.0.5.9 or 9.0.5.10 with recent recommended interim fixes may warn about several fixes (APARS) being uninstalled.
Symptom
During installation, the following warning is displayed:
WARNING: One or more fixes will be uninstalled when IBM HTTP Server for WebSphere Application Server is updated to 9.0.5.11- "PH42587 in the fix package 9.0.5.10-WS-WASIHS..."
- "PH43887..."
- "PH44393..."
- "PH42862..."
Cause
Each IBM HTTP Server interim fix or fix pack includes a list of resolved APARS.
When a fix pack is installed on top of an installation with interim fixes, one of two things may occur depending on whether the interim fix supports the new fix pack directly:
- If the interim fix supports the new fix pack, the interim fix is uninstalled prior to the fix pack installation, then re-installed afterwards. No warning is issued.
- If the interim fix does not support the new fix pack, the interim fix is uninstalled prior to the installation of the fix pack. If the interim fix resolved any APARS that are not resolved by the fix pack, the warning in the preceding section is displayed.
In some cases, primarily when an APAR is taken for a problem unique to an interim fix, the list of resolved APARS in a fix pack will be missing some APARS that were listed in interim fixes. In these cases, no additional interim fix is available or required.
Resolving The Problem
The following APARS that may be listed do not require reinstallation after 9.0.5.11: PH42587, PH43887, PH44393, PH42862. A packaging error prevents these APARS from being listed in the 9.0.5.11 fix pack.
PH44271 does require re-installation. This issue is not addressed in 9.0.5.11.
