Installation of Client Access Fails with "Unable to read current version key"

Troubleshooting


Problem

This typically occurs if a version of Client Access was installed at some time or an unsuccessful installation occurred. A message during installation will state that the current version key can not be read or is unavailable.

Resolving The Problem

This typically occurs if a version of Client Access was installed at some time or an unsuccessful installation occurred.

To resolve this problem, you can delete the Client Access key from the registry:

Windows 64 bit location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\Client Access

Windows 32 bit location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Client Access

If this does not resolve the issue, you should contact IBM i Global Support.
