Information Server DataStage Director Login Error: "error 339. Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not registered"

Troubleshooting


Problem

When logging into the Information Server DataStage Director, get the following error: [
] Run-time error '339': Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Resolving The Problem

This is a known issue with the Information Server 8.5 client installer where if there is already a file "comdlg32.ocx" in the C:\Windows\System32 it was not overwritten by the installer.


The work around for this issue is to copy the "comdlg32.ocx" file from the client install image for example:


'is-client\payloads\DataStageCommon\CommonClient\payload\redist\deploy\register\system' into C:\Windows\System32.


Then re-register by doing the following command:



"regsvr32 /s C:\WINDOWS\system32\comdlg32.ocx"



The Information Server 8.5 Client installer has been fixed via APAR JR38835.
