New parameters on Retrieve Processor Multitasking Information API

The Retrieve Processor Multitasking Information (QWCRTVPR) API now returns the current and maximum number of secondary hardware threads, in addition to the configured number of secondary hardware threads, per processor.

The Change Processor Multitasking Information (QWCCHGPR) API can be used to limit the number of processing threads on systems that are using simultaneous multithreading (QPRCMLTTSK system value). In previous releases, the QWCRTVPR API returned only the value set by the QWCCHGPR API with no way to determine the actual value used by the system or the maximum value supported by the hardware.

In IBM i 7.4, QWCRTVPR adds two new optional parameters that can be used to retrieve the number of secondary threads that are currently active, as well as the maximum number of secondary hardware threads per processor that can be supported.

New fields returned in Collection Services QAPMCONF file

These new fields are also returned by Collection Services now in 7.4. See GKEY fields TC and TM in the IBM i Knowledge Center QAPMCONF file for more information.
