How To

Summary

How To install IBM Watson Explorer on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® 8

Environment

IBM Watson Explorer Analytical Components (AC) 11.0.2/12.0.3
IBM Watson Explorer Annotation Administration Console (AAC) 11.0.2/12.0.3
Red Hat Enterprise Linux® 8

Steps

32-bit library `libstdc++33 (compat-libstdc++-33)` is required on Linux x86-64 systems for installation of IBM Watson Explorer AC/AAC.

On RHEL 8, package `libstdc++33 (compat-libstdc++-33)` has been removed: [A.4. Removed packages].

To install `libstdc++33 (compat-libstdc++-33)on REHL 8, Support found the following steps as a workaround:

1. Locate and download the rpm to the machine. This workaround refers to the RHEL 7 library, as an RHEL 8 library could not be found:
$ wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/Packages/compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-72.el7.i686.rpm

2. Install the local rpm:
$ yum localinstall -y compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-72.el7.i686.rpm
3. Verify installation:
$ rpm -qa | grep compat-libstdc++-33
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-72.el7.i686
