1.0 General description
This fix pack refreshes the agents in the IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) System P bundle. It can be used to do a fresh install of the agents or can be used to upgrade an existing agent.
- Adds the ITM VIOS Agent to the bundle as an installable agent.
- Enables self describing agents (SDA) for agents.
- Updates the IBM Tivoli Monitoring framework components to v6.3.0 Fix Pack 07 Service Pack 13, including the IBM SDK Java® Technology Edition Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and the IBM GSKit Security Interface.
2.0 Download Information
The VIOS Agent has been included in this refresh and has been updated to version 6.22 FP3 which includes:
- All fixes up to and including 6.2.2.3-TIV-ITM_VIOS_PREM-IF0008, which included self-describing agent (SDA).
- *ITM shared components (e.g. JRE, GSKit, TEMA, Basic Services) updated to ITM 6.30 FP7 SP13.
The agent has been updated to version 6.22 FP4 which includes:
- All fixes up to and including 6.2.2.3-TIV-ITM_HMC_BASE-IF0004.
- The agent continues to be enabled for self-describing agent (SDA)
- *ITM shared components (e.g. JRE, GSKit, TEMA, Basic Services) updated to ITM 6.30 FP7 SP13.
3.3 AIX Premium Agent
This agent has been replaced by the UNIX OS Agent and should not be in use. However, if the agent is in use, it has been updated to version 6.22 FP3 which includes:
- All fixes up to and including the last patch 6.2.2.2-TIV-ITM_AIX_PREM_IF0005.
- Enabled for self-describing agent (SDA)
- *ITM shared components (e.g. JRE, GSKit, TEMA, Basic Services) updated to ITM 6.30 FP7 SP13.
3.4 CEC Base Agent
This agent has been replaced by the HMC Agent and should not be in use. However, if the agent is in use, it has been updated to version 6.22 FP3 which includes:
- All fixes up to and including the last patch 6.2.2.2-TIV-ITM_CEC_BASE_IF0005.
- Enabled for self-describing agent (SDA)
- *ITM shared components (e.g. JRE, GSKit, TEMA, Basic Services) updated to ITM 6.30 FP7 SP13.
The Application Support has been updated to include the new version numbers for each agent. No new Application Support updates have been included so this does not need to be installed if the latest versions had already been installed. It is recommended to utilize the SDA function.
3.6 Language Pack
The Language Pack has not been updated or refreshed.
4.0 Architecture and prerequisites
This fix is supported on all operating systems listed in the latest
User's Guide for the agent.
This fix pack is a complete install image and as such, can be installed on a pristine system.
5.0 Image directory contents
This fix image contains the following file: ITM_SYS_P_6.2.2_FP4_EN.tar.gz
- The prerequisites listed under section 3.1 entitled 'Prerequisites for this fix' must be installed before this fix can be installed.
- For the purpose of this README, the symbol <CANDLEHOME> is the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory. The default value
for CANDLEHOME is '/opt/IBM/ITM' on UNIX systems and 'C:\IBM\ITM' on Windows systems.
directory.
For example:
> CANDLEHOME=/opt/IBM/ITM
> export CANDLEHOME
- Because there is no uninstall utility for this fix, make sure to perform a backup of your environment before installing this fix.
6.2 Local agent update
To install locally:
- If on the VIOS system, as the prime administrator of the Virtual I/O Server, run the "oem_setup_env" command.
- Transfer the archive file <image name> to a temporary directory on the system that contains the agent code to be updated. For the purpose of this README, the symbol <TEMP> represents the fully qualified path to this directory.
- Expand the archive file using the "gunzip" then "tar" commands on
fixes for all of the supported platforms.
Other agents: ./install.sh
Note: The ITM VIOS agent must be installed in /opt/IBM/ITM directory to continue to be integrated with the cvfsvc/startsvc/stopsvc commands. The script install_vios_agent.sh has been provided to do a silent install into the /opt/IBM/ITM directory. Once the ITM VIOS agent has been installed, configuration continues using the commands as referenced in the User's Guide or this technote:
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/itm-agent-insights-how-configure-vios-premium-agent
This is to update an existing agent to the latest version in this fix image.
a temporary directory on the IBM Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring
Server system. For the purpose of this README, the symbol <TEMP>
represents the fully qualified path to this directory. Note: On
Windows systems, this path includes the drive letter.
or an extract utility on Windows systems. This step creates a directory
structure that contains fixes for all of the supported platforms.
the "tacmd addBundles" command found in $CANDLEHOME/bin on UNIX
systems or in %CANDLE_HOME%\bin on Windows systems. For more
information on the "tacmd addBundles" command, see the IBM Tivoli
Monitoring Administrator's Guide.
1. The prerequisite for each agent will be loaded into the bundle
using the addBundles command below.
> $CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd addBundles -t <product code>

added to the depot.
the fix to the appropriate nodes where the agent is running, use
the following "tacmd" commands. For more information on the
"tacmd login" and "tacmd updateAgent" commands, see the IBM Tivoli
Monitoring Administrator's Guide.
> $CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd login -s <server>
-u <itmuser>
-p <password>
> $CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd listSystems
The output shows the Managed System Name for the OS agent on the
remote system to be updated. Use this value as the target of the
"tacmd updateAgent" command.
> $CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd updateAgent -t <product code>
-n <UNIX OS Agent managed system name>
-v <agent version>
> %CANDLE_HOME%\bin\tacmd login -s <server>

6.3 Agent support update
Each agent in this fix has been enabled for Self-Describing Agent (SDA) support. This fix also includes Application Support in the directory
ITM_AGT_SYS_P_6.2.2_FP4_AIX_EN/ITM_Systemp_Application_Support for each agent. The application support has been updated to include the new version numbers for each agent. No new application support updates have been included so this does not need to be installed if the latest versions had already been installed for the agent.

on the R-TEMS and on the HUB-TEMS. SDA is enabled by default on all
components, but the HUB-TEMS. In order to enable it on the HUB-TEMS, if
not already enabled, set KMS_SDA=Y in its environment and restart it.
This is the only possible server restart required by this method, as opposed to
the multiple restarts of each server required during the ASI install.
2. Double check SDA status is ON through command
> tacmd listsdastatus
Hub/RTEMS State Status
<HUB_name> ON 0
<RTEMS_name> ON 0
3. Enable SDA for the fix through command (unless general enablement has
already been done).
> tacmd addsdainstalloptions -t <product code> -v <product version>
For example:
> tacmd addsdainstalloptions -t VA -v 06220300
type(s). The following options will be created:
VA 06220300
Are you sure you want to update the selected options? Type Y for yes.
Type N for no.

4. Double check required SDA install options are in place
> tacmd listsdainstalloptions
KUILIO200W: No default SDA installation settings exist.

VA 06220300
7. You need at least one agent upgraded to this Fix Pack level running
in this HUB environment. In a few moments from its startup all the needed
support files will be propagated from the agent to the servers.
8. Double check the seeding of the support files has successfully completed
(STATE=IC Installation Complete)
> tacmd listappinstallrecs

(TEPD/tpd) App Support component will not be updated by the SDA method.
B. Installing with the fix pack ITM_Systemp_Application_Support
- Installing using this method will require the Monitoring Server and Portal Server to
restarted.
- The application support install on Windows requires the TEMS/TEPS to be at
ITM 6.30 FP7 SP6 or later.
- The SDA method (#A above), does not update the ITM Desktop Client. To have
the application support files updated for an agent for the desktop client, this
ITM_Systemp_Application_Support method will need to be used.
./install.sh

7.0 Additional installation information
7.1 Update to Shared Components
This fix pack includes updates to the following shared components which might be installed into the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory (for example, CANDLEHOME), if a higher version does not already exist. These are the same levels that are shipped as part of 6.30 FP7 Service Pack 13.
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring installer version to 6.30.07.19.
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring framework (ax/gl) component to version 6.30.07.21.
- IBM GSKit Security Interface to version 08.00.55.17.
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring user interface version to 6.30.07.19.
- IBM SDK Java Technology Edition Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for the JRE installed in the CANDLEHOME directory:
There are no updates to the baroc files included in this fix. No additional installation steps are required.
7.3 Verifying the update
1. To verify the agent was updated correctly, use the "tacmd" command to view the agent's current version after the agent is restarted.
You are required to log in to a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server prior to viewing the agent version.
For example:
On UNIX systems, where $CANDLEHOME is the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory, the default location is '/opt/IBM/ITM'.
> $CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd login -s <server>
-u <itmuser>
-p <password>
va - Monitoring Agent for VIOS Premium
ph - Monitoring Agent for HMC Base
px - Monitoring Agent for AIX Premium
pk - Monitoring Agent for CEC Base
When the agent update is successful, the agent version displayed:
06.22.03.00 - Monitoring Agent for VIOS Premium
06.22.04.00 - Monitoring Agent for HMC Base
06.22.03.00 - Monitoring Agent for AIX Premium
06.22.03.00 - Monitoring Agent for CEC Base
2. To verify all the agent components were updated correctly, use
the "cinfo" command on UNIX/Linux or "kincinfo" on Windows.
The sample output below shows the minimum versions of the components
updated after this fix pack has been successfully installed.
Note: The displayed date of the build might not be accurate. This
is a known problem.
