Note:
- Starting with the DataFabric Manager 3.8 release, the DFM Server (which includes the Operations Manager) and N series Management Console (which includes the Performance Advisor, Protection Manager and Provisioning Manager) can no longer be installed on host servers running the Solaris™ operating system. Solaris is no longer a supported installation platform for the server, user interface and management console components of the 3.8 and later releases of DFM.
- The 4.0 and later releases of DataFabric Manager will continue to passively interact with Solaris host servers with the 2.7 and later releases of DFM Host Agent installed.
- DataFabric Manager 4.0 is not supported on Windows NT® 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or distributions of Linux® not listed in this guide.
- DataFabric Manager 4.0 supports VMware® VMotion™ and VMware High Availability features.
- Various software licenses are required to complete the installation and to activate features of the DataFabric Manager 4.0 release. Refer to the license requirements information in this guide for details on the required software licenses. Refer to the General information for license key management for details about retrieving lost licenses and resolving other licensing issues.
- IBM has announced the end of availability for the Business Continuance Option (BCO) license.
- You must have a DataFabric Manager plug-in for each version of Data ONTAP that you are running across your system. DataFabric Manager automatically includes the plug-ins for Data ONTAP. To list the versions of the plug-ins for Data ONTAP, use the "dfm plugin list" command at the command line. You do not need to download a plug-in unless you are using a different version of Data ONTAP.
- You should install MSCS or VCS for high availability before installing DataFabric Manager.
