Q&A:
Q: What exactly do the Admin and API servers handle on the platform?
A: The admin server serves the requests from the business tools like Order Hub, SMA, SBC, DBQueryClient, APITester etc., while the API server handles the API requests like REST calls.
Q: Are there release notes available for the changes made to Self Service?
A: The following page captures any major changes to the Self Service tool, including the monitoring dashboards.
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/order-management?topic=new-in-self-service
Minor UI/UX enhancements may not always be reflected here currently. However, this is something we can follow up on internally to ensure all minor changes are documented as well (such as the recent 'order by' enhancements we made to the queue depth time series monitoring dashboard widget).
Q: How can I check the current queue depths for all of my queues in Self Service?
A: You can view this information in Self Service by clicking on your environment and navigating to Monitoring > JMS Metrics > Queue Depth. There is a summary table presented there.  Note: To view the current depth, you need to select the 1-minute time interval option on that page. This is because the data is aggregated by default with the mean function.
Q: Are Inventory Visibility related stats going to be available in Self Service?
A: Yes, SIP (IV) performance data will be available in a future update.  This was discussed as part of the DemoDays session (June 25th)
https://ibm.ent.box.com/v/OMSDemoDay2Q2024
Q: When checking the current performance statistics, what's an appropriate time frame to select?  Also, are there any 90% stats available when we are checking the performance metrics?
A: When it comes to monitoring performance, 30 minutes is a good starting point.  You can then tune from there according to the trends you observe in the data.  90th percentile response times are currently not available.  This is something we can take back to our product management team to consider.  It would be great if you could log/vote on this idea in our Idea Portal.
Q: What is the timeline for further UI/UX improvements to the monitoring screens in Self Service?
A: We acknowledge the various changes in behavior observed between the legacy dashboards and our new monitoring dashboards, as well as  some of the challenges faced with those new dashboards.  The feedback we have received has been shared with our development team to be worked on as part of future enhancements. We are confident that in the near future, any/all problematic behavior that has been observed so far will be addressed.  For example, in our recent release, we have already enhanced the time series charts to always order the results in descending order, making these much more user friendly and useful.  We recognize this was a pain point, specifically when reviewing the queue depth charts.  Stay tuned for future updates!
