Abstract
Support of IBM XIV and IBM XIV Gen3 with IBM Storage Insights and IBM Spectrum Control 5.4 (all versions).
Content
IBM XIV and IBM XIV Gen3 were tested with the following firmware levels:
Storage systems | Firmware |
IBM XIV Gen3 1
281x-114 281x-214 281x-314 |
11.6.2
|
IBM XIV 2 EOS
2810-A14 2812-A14 |
10.2.4 |
Tip: Newer firmware levels are also supported. For IBM Spectrum Control, an upgrade to a later version might be required, particularly for new functions. IBM Storage Insights is automatically upgraded.
If any problems occur when you use newer firmware levels, open a support case. IBM Support will investigate the problem and attempt to resolve it. You can open cases for IBM Storage Insights or IBM Spectrum Control at https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/
Limitations and considerations
- 1 IBM XIV Gen 3 supported firmware is 11.6.2 or higher. Subsequent firmware versions, including 11.6.1, have reached End of Support (EOS).
- 2 IBM XIV Gen 2 (model A14) has reached End of Support (EOS) as of 31 December, 2018. Customers are encouraged to migrate to IBM FlashSystem A9000 or A9000R, IBM's advanced storage systems.
- Storage Insights users with outdated XIV devices may need to enable the older TLS protocol for data collection. For more information see Enabling the collection of metadata for devices that use TLS 1.0 or 1.1.
- In 5.4.0 and later, provisioning in IBM Spectrum Control is no longer supported. While this feature may appear in the GUI, it might not work as intended.
