Troubleshooting
Problem
This document provides information on the currently supported releases of IBM i NetServer support for various Windows and Linux Samba clients.
Resolving The Problem
The IBM i NetServer, provides support for Microsoft Windows clients and for the Linux Samba client.
IBM i NetServer supports Windows client versions that are currently supported by Microsoft.
IBM does not provide support for any connections to the IBM i NetServer from Windows clients that are no longer supported by Microsoft.
Connections are also supported from the Linux Samba client at version 2.4.4, or later and Samba 3.0.9, or later. See:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=netserver-accessing-i-linux-samba-client-support
The IBM i NetServer development group has not officially tested NetServer with any other clients. While other clients might work with NetServer, there is no support for any other client at this time. The not supported statement implies that development is not currently accepting problem reports nor defect reports on other clients. Any problems that might be encountered must be re-creatable on Windows or the Samba Client.
IBM does not provide defect support for the client operating system (Windows or Linux), or support for anything between the client computer and the IBM i system (domain, dns server, lines, hardware, etc). IBM does provide support for the NetServer code on the IBM i and any related IBM i issues.
