IBM FileNet Content Engine or IBM Content Search Services error out when attempting to use textExtractor, ibmfndcm or ibmfnthb utilities on SUSE Linux, citing missing library libssl.so.10 and/or process exit value of 127.
Text extraction and thumbnail generation are not working with Oracle Outside In Technology (OIT) v8.5.5 p32303325 (January 2021) in 5.5.4.0-P8CPE-IF004, 5.5.4.0-P8CSS-IF004, 5.5.5.0-P8CPE-IF003, 5.5.5.0-P8CSS-IF003.
Content Platform Engine logging may show problems with either the ibmfndcm or ibmfnthb utilities:
CBR FNRCE0000W - WARN Batch text filter extraction failed with result code: 127 the batch will be re-submitted as individual text filtering jobs. The execution of the ibmfndcm application returned unrecognized return code 127.
CBR FNRCE0000I - INFO Text extraction stderr:/usr/IBM/WebSphere9/AppServer/profiles/AppSrv01/FileNet/server1/INSO/bin/sx-8-5-5-linux-x86-64/ibmfndcm: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

On the other side,Content Search Services may not start at all, citing a problem with the textExtractor:

IQQG0335E The server cannot start. See the error log file for more details.
Exception: IQQP2601E The parser component cannot be started. The parser component will not be available.
Causes of the problem:
IQQG0143E The Text Extractor cannot start. On the Linux platform, verify the standard c++ library (e.g. libstdc++.so.5) exists in the /usr/lib64 directory and permissions are correct. Review any server log messages related to this failure. The Text Extractor executable file is named 'textExtractor' and is located in the /stellent.<platform_name> directory.
IQQG0146E The child process stopped with the following return code: 127.
The Oracle OIT libraries v8.5.5 p32303325 January 2021 (used for text extraction and thumbnail generation) inadvertently introduced a dependency on the libssl.so.10 library.
This was mainly evident in SUSE Linux 12 but may manifest in other flavors of Linux.
You will see the error messages from the Caused by paragraph above. Also, text will not be extracted for indexing documents and thumbnails will not be generated.
Oracle Outside In Technology (OIT) has issued new fixed version of their libraries OIT v8.5.5 p32446523 (March 1, 2021), which will be available in the following patches:
