Question

Is it possible to go to the Applix TM1 OLAP server with Cognos PowerPlay Product ?

Cause

The following statement has been superceded by newer Technology from the combined products of IBM Cognos and TM1 within IBM Cognos core products.

For historical reason we have left this Technote in place.

Response :
IBM Cognos PowerPlay does not have a native connection to the Applix TM1 OLAP database like Applix has against Essbase or Oracle Express. The Applix TM1 OLAP server does offer a native connection for third party products but this is not implemented by IBM Cognos.

However, Applix 7.0 supports OLE DB, so as soon as IBM Cognos releases it's OLE DB connection software then we are able to connect. See also a part of this press release of Applix:

As history goes, Applix was purchased by Cognos Corporation in 2007, shortly before Cognos became part of the IBM Corporation.

Answer

The IBM Cognos TM1 version 9 and higher, are capable of integration with the IBM Cognos 8 and higher versions product line. This means that TM1 cubes can be used directly as sources in IBM Cognos 8 and 10
