Problem
Cloudera Impala has recently released update 2.5.34 to their JDBC driver which includes fixes for several common issues with IBM Cognos software: - queries will fail due to the presence of the default catalog name (Impala) - Java assertions will be thrown when Cognos attempts to retrieve error messages - incorrect metadata/data type information may be returned causing query failures

Resolving The Problem
It is highly recommended to upgrade to version 2.5.34 of the Impala driver for optimal interoperability with IBM Cognos software.
