Problem

The i-fixes provided by WebSphere Application Server using APARs PH04258 and PH04259 contain unsupported levels of Java 7.1 SR4 FP35 and Java 7 SR10 FP35, respectively.

Symptom

You may experience problems such as a NoSuchMethodError.

Cause

These APARs deliver new Java SDK levels for WebSphere Application Server.
The Java SDK levels in PH04258 and PH04259 are not supported.

Environment

All operating systems and architectures are affected except for HP-UX.

Diagnosing The Problem

1) APAR PH04258 is installed

- issuing "java -version" from the $WAS_HOME/java_1.7.1_nn/bin directory will show:

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build xxxnn70sr10fp35-20181105_01(SR10 FP35))

where xxx an os/arch specific string, and nn is the bitness of the Java SDK.

2) APAR PH04259 is installed

- issuing "java -version" from the $WAS_HOME/java_1.7_nn/bin directory will show:
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build xxxnn70_27sr4fp35-20181105_01(SR4 FP35))

where xxx an os/arch specific string, and nn is the bitness of the Java SDK.

Resolving The Problem

APARs PH04258 or PH04259 should be uninstalled and replaced.
