How To
Summary
After PTF images have been ordered from Fix Central and downloaded on the IBM i, this QSH command can verify there have been no download issues.
Steps
Once the images have been ordered by using any method that requests the PTFs as .bin images, this process validates that there have not been any download issues from Fix Central or FTPing to the system.
Included in the Fix Central order is a cryptographic hash SHA256.txt file, which proves the integrity of the files. You will also need to know the directory path where the images are stored on the IBM i.
- Display the SHA256.txt file to view the hash of each order.
- STRQSH
- openssl sha256 '/<dir>/<filename>.bin'
- Once the result comes back, compare the two hashes.
If the same, this proves that the integrity of the image is intact and there have been no download issues, but if they are different the image needs to be re-downloaded from Fix Central before the order expires.
Repeat this process for every image.
