This document guides you through the process of resetting search indexes in Cognos Analytics 11.1.x and 11.2.x.
Objective
Steps
In order to resolve this issue, do the following:

Stop Cognos Services in the proper order. See technote: Order to restart Cognos Analytics servers in a distributed environment

Go to directory: <install location>/data/search/

Back up the search directory

Note: Backups are recommended so support and development can investigate if resetting didn't work

All the sub directories of <install location>/data/search/ must be deleted
-
Note <install location>/data/ may have been reconfigured to alternate location in Cognos Configuration, in which case use that location instead

Start the Cognos services in correct order
Steps for Cognos Analytics 11.0.x
2. Wait and check cognosserver.log and cogaudit.log for completion of search crawler
3. Search for newly created object.
After completing these steps, please allow time for the index files to rebuild.
*Please note that the documentation for startup/shutdown order is for Cognos 10.2.2 and below, however it is applicable for Cognos 11.0.x and 11.1.x as well.
