How do you promote or demote objects in IBM Rational DOORS?
Cause
Nothing happens when you promote or demote an object.
Answer
To manipulate the object hierarchy in DOORS by promoting or demoting an object:.
- Open the module exclusive edit
- Click to select the object you want to move
- Click Edit > Object > Promote (or Demote)
There are conditions when an object will not be demoted or demoted:
- A child of a deleted object
- Selection of objects followed by any unselected sibling object
This is not allowed since promotion would require those other objects to also be re-ordered.
Notes:
- When you promote an object it becomes the next sibling of the object that was its parent.
- When you demote an object it becomes the last child of the object that was its preceding sibling.
- Children of objects that are being promoted or demoted move with their parent to the new location in the hierarchy.
