How To Populate Member Description from TM1/PA in Report Studio

Problem

The Member Description data item is blank in report studio when using a tm1 cube/PA as a datasource.

Symptom

Member Description data item in report studio is blank.

Resolving The Problem

In the TM1 Cube create a new alias called "DESCRIPTION", this alias will map to the member description data item. Please note DESCRIPTION is case sensitive so you must name it in all capital letters.

Steps:

1. Log in to TM1 Architect

2. Right click the dimension that is part of the TM1 cube in which you want the member description to populate.

3. Select 'Edit Element Attributes'

4. Select 'Edit > Add New Attribute'

5. Select type 'alias' and under Name, type in "DESCRIPTION" then click ok

6. Assure that the entries under the DESCRIPTION alias are not duplicates of other alias entries.

7. Press OK to exit the Attribute Editor, and right click the TM1 Server and select "Save Data". The member description should now be populated in Report Studio.
