How to modify orders present in a store that are being fulfilled by some other store in Sterling Order Management ?

Question & Answer

Question

How to modify orders present in a store that are being fulfilled by some other store ?

Cause

A store user logged in one store can view the orders present in different stores under same organization. Suppose one wants to modify an order 'orderABC' in store1 from store3 of XYZ organization, i.e. to enable the StoreUser3 (assigned to store3) to cancel/update orders that are being fulfilled by StoreUser1 (assigned to store1).

This seems to be a valid requirement as stores (store1, store2,store3,...) are under same organization
In current design, when the Storeuser3 tries edit the order by clicking "Record Backroom Pick" or "Start Customer Pick", this disclaimer is displayed "Order belongs to a different store.".

Answer

Below work-around can be used to achieve this requirement:
1. Firstly customize the application to cancel the existing shipment, this will force the system to fulfill the order from another store under the same organization.

2. Once store1 cancels orderABC, this order will now be accessible to all stores under XYZ organization and since orderABC is not being fulfilled by any store (currently) then StoreUser3 may edit the order and fulfill it eventually.

In this scenario a new shipment will be created for store3 and StoreUser3 can perform the desired store operations on this new shipment.
Note: A shipment created for one node can not be fulfill from a different node.
