How to install SCM command line tool local on a Solaris machine

Question & Answer

Question

There is only a Web install installation available for IBM Rational Team Concert client on Solaris. The SCM command line tool is part of the Rational Team Concert client installation and should be installed on a Solaris machine that has no Internet access. How can this be achieved?

Answer

Download the client zip for Linux and use the command line client contained there on Solaris.

Note: The file Scm.sh has to be changed to point to the JVM installation of the Solaris machine. For more details how to do that see technote 1407634: Specify an alternate JVM for SCM Tools. Please note that the technical description explains how to modify scm.ini but you have to modify Scm.sh.

On Solaris lscm has to be used. Modify the file making sure that SCM_DAEMON_PATH point at scm.sh instead of scm and also remove J9 specific options like -Xquickstart and -Xshareclasses .

For more details about J9 specific options see technote 1407637: Remove J9 args when using a non IBM Java Virtual Machine. Please note that the technical description shows example for scm.ini but you have to remove the J9 specific options in lscm.
