Problem
Communication between a data source and the CA servers may be slow depending on the geographic location and network between the hosts. This document describes the steps required to increase the Row Fetch Size for JDBC data sources which may improve overall performance.
Symptom
Performance issues.
Cause
Communication between the data source and the CA servers may be slow depending on the geographic location and network between the hosts.
Diagnosing The Problem
A JDBC trace may indicate that a lot of calls are made from the CA report servers to the data source requesting the return of the result set. A performance trace of these calls will show time waiting for the transfer.
Resolving The Problem
Increase the Row FetchSize so that fewer calls are made and more rows returned during each fetch.
1. Login to your Cognos Analytics on Cloud Application
2. Navigate to Manage -> Data server connections.
3. Select the More then Properties option beside the data source connection you wish to increase the default Fetch Size (Note: If you do not see your data source listed, please proceed to Step 4, otherwise proceed to Step 9)

4. If you do not see your data source listed under Manager -> Data server connections go back to Manage and select Administration console
 |
5. From the Administration Console, select Configuration -> Data Source Connections
 |
6. Select Set Properties beside the data source connection that was not visible from Manage -> Data Server Connections.

7. Select the Connection tab and select the checkbox to Allow web-based modeling.
 |
8. Click ok, and go back to Manage -> Data server connections, your data source should now be visible, if not, please refresh your Web Browser.
9. Click on the Connections tab, next click on the connection name, this will open a new slide out window, click on the Settings tab in the new slide out window.

10. Click on Edit and add the following connection property to the Connection Properties box
ibmCognos.fetchBufferSize=1000

11. Click Save.
