How can you improve the time required to open an IBM Rational DOORS module that contains layout DXL columns in the default view?
Cause
After adding layout DXL columns to the default view, the module takes long time to open.
Answer
Consider using a DXL attribute column instead of a layout DXL column.
The content displayed in a layout DXL column is automatically recalculated whenever DOORS refreshes your screen. When the DXL program associated with a column is compute intensive,
for example following links, the constant re-calculation of values leads to slower performance.
It is not recommended using compute intensive layouts for the module default view.
DOORS has built in functionality to convert Layout DXL to Attribute DXL.
This can be accomplished using the "Convert Layout DXL to Attribute DXL" menu item under the Tools -> Support Tools menu.
