Question & Answer
Question
How do I create a group in the IBM Rational ClearQuest eclipse client query as this does not seem to be easy to identify
Cause
This is not so easy to identify on how to do this
Answer
In a query when you try to group, you need to decide what field you will be grouping by.
To do this in the ClearQuest Eclipse client, select the query or create the query you need to run
In the example below, the All defects query is used which comes with the Sample database when you install ClearQuest.
Expand the Query and right click on the filters tab. Click on Edit option and in the next screen, add all the fields you would like to query on.
In the sample below, the headline , id and description have been included
When you right click on each of the filters, you see the ”Use fieldname”
For instance the description field has “Use Description”
What it means is that you can use the description field to do your grouping
So when you right click on it
Once you have activated this as your group by field, you can then group all the other fields by this field
Or after you have grouped all the other fields you can chose another group field and group a new set of fields
So below you see that the field description has been indicted to be the group by field, this
Can be included in the DateGate field
And once this is done your grouping becomes visible
Another group can be created
Right click on the headline field to group this with the id field
There are now 2 groups
You can then change or switch between And /Or
