Question & Answer
Question
How do you point to multiple IBM Rational DOORS databases without re-installing or reconfiguring the client software?
Cause
You need to connect to alternate DOORS database locations but do not have registry editor or administrator privilege to modify the installed software configuration settings.
Answer
Run doors.exe with the -data switch.
You can either run the DOORS client with a data value passed as an argument from the command line or from a short cut that points to a specific database
Example shortcut target:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORSHome\bin\doors.exe" -data ######@<name of the server>
- ###### is the TCP/IP port of the DOORS database server
- <name of the server> is the name of the computer or IP address where the DOORS database is installed
