How can I obtain AIX Filesets for a technology level which is not available on ESS?

Question

I need AIX Filesets for a technology level which is not available on  ESS.  Can I order AIX filesets through a support case?

- For example, you require filesets at AIX 7.1 TL4 SP4 levels, but the base version currently available on ESS is AIX 7.1 TL5 SP2

Note: "Case" is the new IBM Support term used for

  • Problem Management Record (PMR)
  • Service Request (SR)
  • Ticket / Trouble Ticket
  • Problem Management Hardware (PMH)

NOTE: Due to file control requirements and export regulations, IBM Support is not authorized to deliver AIX filesets or ISO images directly to clients. Requests to IBM Support for delivery of AIX images will be redirected to the IBM Entitled Systems Support site (ESS).
If you have a current IBM Software Maintenance Agreement (SWMA), you can download the AIX Install .iso image from  ESS

    *  ESS: https://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/ess

Service Pack (SP) level 0 and the latest SP of a Technology Level (TL) will be available on ESS, and a combination of ESS and Fix Central should allow any TL-SP combination if the TL is still in service.

In this example, you require filesets at AIX 7.1 TL4 SP4 levels, but the base version currently available on ESS is AIX 7.1 TL5 SP2.

You would download the AIX 7.1 TL4  iso, then update to SP4 from Fix Central
