Troubleshooting
Problem
This document contains the requirements for FTPing to an NFS mounted directory.
Resolving The Problem
Problem:
When using FTP from a PC to a mounted directory in the IBM® OS/400® or IBM® i5/OS® Integrated File
System directory, the PC receives the error unable to open or create file to receive data. The FTP
server job log shows message CPDA1B9 RC1:
| Message ID . . . . . . . . . : CPDA1B9 Message file . . . . . . . . : QCPFMSG Library . . . . . . . . . : QSYS Message . . . . : An error has occurred in the Network File System (NFS). Cause . . . . . : An error has occurred in the Network File System (NFS). |
The reason code is 1. Reason codes and their meanings are as follows:
| 1 | The *RPC NFS server daemon is not responding. |
| 2 | The *NSM NFS server daemon is not responding. |
| 3 | The UDP handle is not operational. |
| 4 | The TCP handle is not operational. |
| 5 | The server is not responding, still trying. |
| 6 | The server is not responding, aborted. |
| 7 | The server responded. |
| 8 | The local *NLM NFS server daemon is not responding, still trying. |
| 9 | The local *NLM NFS server daemon is not responding, aborted. |
| 10 | The local *NLM NFS server daemon responded. |
Resolution:
The NFS server must be started on the OS/400 or i5/OS with the mounted directory. The OS/400 or i5/OS was acting as the client in the NFS connection.
