Changes between V8 and V10.
Key features and fixes in this cumulative set of changes are:
- Stuck Tape Issue: When the tape pack slips on the load, the recovery code enables the electronic motor brake to stop the slip. Previously, the code didnt disable the brake before continuing.
- Invalid POST Failures: POST failures were being reported in the Disable Data Path POST test due to external events such as SCSI bus reset.
- The tape remaining value being returned by the drive was not correct.
- Enhancement to the load history field log. A temperature field was added.
- Reduced the tape alert for over temp to 54 C instead of 60C.
- Fixed a problem where false POST failures were being reported in the Disable Data Path POST test due to external events such as SCSI bus reset.
- Enhancement for boot performance. We reduced the boot time by doing asynchronous buffer clearing in our hardware.
- Enable check condition reporting on SATA CRC detected errors.
- Enhance Mid tape load process.
- Password handling changes.
- Under specific situations, such as when reading expired media, the Error Correction Code task could become starved for data blocks while performing error corrections.
- Enhancement to drive diagnostic mech test.
- During a load, the drive attempts to determine if the brakes have been released in the cartridge. If the reel does not move 3 hall sensor lengths then the drive will reject the cartridge.
- Decrease the chance of a clean required being sent while a cleaning is being done.
- Enhance abort handling.
- A DLT-V4 drive rejected a valid VS1 cartridge for an incorrect hole pattern.
- Enhance memory test.
- Up read retries by 10 to ensure tension adjust gets through problem tapes.
- Improve the read retry reduced tension value.
- Enable support for second source head.
- Add fix for positioning at end of a track that is not current being used.
- Additional change to deal with bad tach sensors.
- Enhance SATA reset handling.
- Make attributes for Remaining Capacity, Max Capacity, Data Write/Read more accurate.
- If something crazy happens and the VS1 media is ejected while buckled, the drive has the potential to drop the leader.
