Finding out what dataset a module resides in

Troubleshooting


Problem

How do you determine which dataset in LINKLIST or LPA contains a module so we can verify the module level.

Resolving The Problem

A customer has applied maintenance using SMP/E but NetView or SA is not picking up the correct maintenance level. From TSO you can issue a TSO ISRDDN command and you'll get the following:




The above lists the current datasets for your TSO session and in this case we are interested in LINKLIST, so type in LINKLIST and hit enter. You'll get the following screen:



Now enter MEMBER INGRXFPG or whatever module name you want to locate. You will get a WARNING screen and type in YES to proceed. This results in:



As you can see it shows where the member was found. In this case it was found in ING.V3R5M0.SINGMOD1. You can then browse that dataset and look at the specific module
to find out the compile data.

The same steps can be done for LPA as well.
