The IBM? Traffic Information Hub isthe foundational component of IBM Intelligent Transportation supplyingthe transportation information model and basic platform for visualizationand analysis of traffic flow and event data. The IBM Traffic Information Hub integrates datafrom disparate traffic and road data capture systems by using integrationprotocols recognized by the worldwide transportation industry.
The IBM Traffic Information Hub provideson-demand geographical visibility analysis and reporting for currentfuture and historic traffic data. The IBM Traffic Information Hub:
- Transforms multi-source traffic data into a centralized trafficinformation system
- Includes a near real-time visual interface to aggregate trafficinformation
- Helps provide the insight needed to balance traffic across routes
- Provides real-time display of traffic conditions graphically asservice levels on a road network as well as in tabular and reportviews
- Offers the ability to be alerted to traffic events on the networkin real-time graphically in tabular view
- Offers the ability to interrogate traffic-related devices to obtainstatus and feeds
- Provides insight and ability to analyze historical patterns oftraffic conditions on the most critical links in the network
- Provides the ability to study the historic correlation betweentraffic incidents of different types and traffic service levels
Transportation data standards
The IBM Intelligent Transportation solution familyis developed in accordance with the Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) standards in the areas of managing traffic historical dataand traffic event information. ITS standards aim to improve transportationsafety and mobility and enhance productivity through the integrationof advanced communications technologies into the transportation infrastructure.The IBM Traffic Information Hub aggregatesand normalizes traffic data in a format that is compliant with transportationengineering standards and protocols globally recognized within theindustry.
The architecture of the IBM Intelligent Transportation solution familyis designed to support both the Traffic Management Data Dictionary(TMDD) Version 3.0 and the Datex-II standard traffic data model.
The IBM Traffic Information Hub also integratesdisparate traffic and road data capture systems in compliance withthe National Transportation Communications for Intelligent TransportationSystem Protocol (NTCIP).
