Expired data-encipherment store certificate does not get renewed with other certificate renewal processes on VMware vCenter Server for IBM Cloud Pak System

Problem

A known issue is reported on VMware vCenter Server for IBM Cloud Pak System about the expired data-encipherment store certificate that does not get renewed along with other certificate renewal processes.

Symptom

The following symptoms can be seen when the data-encipherment store certificate expired on the VMware vCenter Server for IBM Cloud Pak System:
  • Service49 and Service78 are seen going down.
  • The VMware vCenter Server fails to start with the expired certificates.

Cause

The expired data-encipherment store certificate does not get renewed along with other certificates on the VMware vCenter Server for IBM Cloud Pak System.

Resolving The Problem

In such a situation, the data-encipherment store certificate needs to be regenerated.

Contact IBM Cloud Pak System Support by opening a case from the MySupport page.
From the support page, search and select IBM Cloud Pak System and its firmware level on the system on the support page.
Note: The client support team needs to take these steps:
  • Determine the certificate expiry. Open a support case from the MySupport page.
  • Track the certificate expiry and open another support case from the MySupport page to get the certificate renewed before the expiry date to avoid any business impact.
