Troubleshooting
Problem
A report that has Size and Overflow property set on objects to customize their widths and heights does size the objects when the report is run in HTML format but when exported to Excel format the objects are not sized as expected.
Symptom
Comparing the layout of the report in HTML and Excel formats visibly show differences in width and heights of objects.
Cause
By default the object width and height settings are ignored when exported to Excel. This occurs because a spreadsheet has defined columns widths and row heights that will be used by multiple adjacent objects on the page layout horizontally and vertically. Whereas an HTML output for a report does not need to observe defined columns and row co-ordinates.
Resolving The Problem
Apply the advanced setting RSVP.EXCEL.XLS2007_COLUMN_WIDTH_CONTROL with a value of TRUE.
This can be set globally at the Configuration level in the Administration console or at the both BatchReportService and ReportService level on individual dispatchers.
